HOW DO I RESERVE A CAR2GO?

You can reserve a car2go online or by contacting the car2go customer call center up to 24 hours in advance. Normally, within the urban area, the nearest Austin car2go is never further away than a 5 minute walk. Only during periods of extreme utilization could the distance sometimes be somewhat greater.

HOW CAN I TELL IF A CAR2GO IS AVAILABLE?

Each car2go has a special card reader installed on its windshield. A light signal on the device displays whether the vehicle is currently available or reserved. Green is the color identifies that the car2go is available for use.

WHAT IS A PARKSPOT?

A Parkspot is parking space identified and marked as a car2go parking space in heavily trafficked and congested areas of Austin. Our available vehicles are located in these dedicated areas and they can also be parked there.

HOW DO I UNLOCK THE CAR2GO?

When you register with car2go, you will be given a special car2go member card. In order to unlock the vehicle, simply hold up your member card to the reader on the windshield. The reader will indicate the doors are unlocked so that you can quickly get in.

HOW DO I ACTIVATE THE CAR2GO AND WHERE IS THE KEY?

After you have gotten into the car, you will need to enter your personal code (PIN) into the touch screen, and also assess the cleanliness of the vehicle and confirm that it is not damaged. Once you complete those questions, you will be prompted to access the ignition key.
The ignition key is located to the right of the touchscreen. Remove it and insert into the ignition located next to the gearshift. Then, the car2go is started as you would a normal vehicle.

HOW DO I USE A CAR2GO?

You can keep the vehicle as long as you want – you can use it for short trips in the city, drive to the countryside, or go to nearby towns. Of course, you can make intermediate stops whenever you want and leave the car2go – for example, to go shopping. In this case, use the remote access on the key in order to lock and unlock the vehicle. The system therefore registers that you are making an intermediate stop, and will block the vehicle in your absence so you can continue using it when you return. This will be indicated by a red blinking signal on the reader.

WHERE DO I PARK THE CAR2GO WHEN THE TRIP IS COMPLETE?

Within the Home Area, the car2go can basically be parked in any public parking space in Austin. The only requirement is that you do not park in a no-parking zone or and that you park legally. If you violate these rules, we will have to charge you not only for the parking ticket from the city of Austin but also for any processing fees and towing costs.
There are many designated areas where you can park the car2go in specially marked car2go parking spaces.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I AM FINISHED USING CAR2GO?

When you are finished with your car2go journey, simply select the corresponding function on the touch screen. Then, place the ignition key back in the holder to the right of the touchscreen. Once everything has been put back into place, an integrated sensor will make sure that the rental process can be ended.
Now, lock the vehicle by once again pressing and holding your member card to the card reader located at the windshield. The reader will indicate that the rental is completed... Done.

HOW DO I PAY?

You can see all journeys made within the last month (start and destination addresses, rental period, distances, price) at my car2go. There, you will also receive the current invoices in PDF format. Payment is made simply by bank debit.
