Park for free in Montreal

car2go offers you ultimate parking freedom. To end your rental, simply park your car2go on public, on-street parking within the Montreal Home Area or any dedicated car2go parking lot. The best part? It costs you nothing.

Parking rules: When you are ending your rental within the Montreal Home Area, park the vehicle legally (without breaking any of the City's rules) on a public/residential street, where there are no street restrictions (i.e. cleaning, "no parking" signs) for the next 24 hours. Thanks to the #403 residential parking sticker, you’re good to go!

*Please note that it is NOT permitted to end your rental in front of a parking meter.*

VIP parking: You cannot end your rental outside of our Home Area unless you're in one of our dedicated Parkspots. To find them, look for the white Ps in the blue icons on the app - once you click on it, you will find out how many spaces are available in the lot, as well as how many vehicles are currently available. If the P is a light blue color, it means that there are no vehicles available at that time.

Once you get to the parking lot, you will find a car2go sign. Simply park in front of it and end your trip.

      Where to end your rental

Tip: Always make sure that your parking is legal and that there is no restriction that falls within the 24 hours after the moment you end your rental.

Residential streets within the Home Area: all car2gos have a universal parking sticker (#403) which allows them to park in residential streets

      Where to make a stopover

Stopover mode lets you run inside for an errand without giving up the car. Simply take the keys and lock the doors - the car will remain yours until you eventually end your trip. You can do a stopover wherever you would like (private property, commercial parking lot, in front of parking meterd, underground parking). All of these places are for stopovers only! If you are ready to end your rental, please follow above mentioned instructions to avoid any parking citations.

Remember: during a stopover, if you choose to park at a paid meter that requires payment, the cost will be on you.

      Where to avoid

Steer clear of illegal parking spots or you may be held responsible for a parking ticket, vehicle relocation or worse - the dreaded tow. And remember - trips can only be ended/completed in the Home Area.

Tip: When ending your car2go trip, a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you would leave your personal car there.

At car2go, we’re not above the law, be sure to take a look at your city’s parking rules here.
