car2go welcomes you to our website. Thank you for your interest in our company and products. We take the protection of your private information seriously and we want you to feel safe when you visit our websites. The protection of your privacy when processing personal data is an important matter for us, which we account for in our business processes. We process the personal data we gather when our website is visited in accordance with the data protection regulations of the country in which the office responsible for data processing is based. Collection and processing of personal data

When you visit our website, our web servers automatically record the IP address assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider, the website from which you accessed us, the pages you visit on our website, and the date and time of the visit. Personal data is only stored if volunteered by you, for example, as part of registration, a survey, a contest or in the execution of a contract.

Storage of reference number for detection of misuse

In order to improve security for car2go users and to recognize unauthorized access to a user account from an unknown device, each browser with which the user logs into the car2go site will be allocated a code number. HTML5 storage technology is used for this. If a previously unknown browser tries to access the user account, the customer is immediately informed by text message of the attempted access.

Use and disclosure of personal data and appropriation

car2go uses your personal information for purposes of technical website administration, customer administration, product surveys and marketing only to the extent necessary in each specific case. Transfers of personal data to government institutions and authorities only take place within the framework of binding national legislation. Our employees, agencies, and retailers are bound by us to maintain confidentiality.


We would like to use your data to keep you informed about our products and services, and where applicable request your opinion about them. Participation in such activities is, of course, voluntary. Social Plugins

ar2go uses so-called social plugins FacebookOn of social networks such as Facebook, Flickr and Twitter.

When you visit our websites these buttons are deactivated by default, i.e. without your intervention they will not send any data to third parties. Before you are able to use these buttons, you must activate them by clicking on them. They then remain active until you deactivate them again or delete your cookies . After their activation, a direct link to the server of the respective social network is established. The contents of the button are then transmitted from the social network directly to your browser and incorporated in the website by it.

Please note that we have no influence on the extent of the data retrieved by the social networks with their buttons. After activation of a button, the social network can retrieve data, independently of whether you interact with the button or not. If you are logged on to a social network, the network can assign your visit to the website to your user account. A social network cannot assign a visit to other Daimler websites unless and until you activate the respective button as well.


car2go uses technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against manipulation, loss, destruction and against access by unauthorized persons. Our security procedures are continually improved as new technology becomes available.

Right to information

Upon request, car2go will promptly inform you, in accordance with applicable law, whether and what personal data of yours is by stored us. If you are a registered user, we also offer you the opportunity to see the data itself and to delete or modify it. If, despite our efforts to ensure accuracy, we have stored false information, we will correct it upon request.
