Where to car2go
Portland Operating Area
What's a Home Area? Think of it as our operating area, where our cars free-float around the city. You can only pick up and drop off vehicles within this area and designated spots outside of it, but everything in between is up to you.
It's simple enough:
You can grab a car from anywhere in the Home Area
You can leave the Home Area during your trip and travel up to 200 miles outside the Home Area
When you're done with your car2go, park anywhere in the Home Area (legally, of course)
The car2go app is the best way to see which cars are available and where they’re located in Portland.
car2go offers you ultimate parking freedom. To end your rental, simply park your car2go on public, on-street parking within the Portland Home Area. The best part? It costs you nothing.
Parking rules: It's pretty simple: as long as you end your trip in public, on-street parking, you're good to leave the car and go. Just be sure to check our parking rules below.
Where to park
Tip: Save your change – we cover the cost of meters!
Unrestricted on-street metered spaces with a time limit of 1 hour or longer within the Home Area.
Residential permit zones with a time limit of 1 hour or longer within the Home Area.
Unrestricted on-street non-metered spaces with a time limit of 1 hour or longer (or no limit) within the Home Area.
Where to make a stopover
Stopover mode lets you run inside for an errand without giving up the car.
Outside the car2go Portland Home Area
Parking spaces that are owned by a private party; such as a school, business or residence
Parking garages, lots, or other facilities
Tip: If during a stopover you park somewhere that requires payment, the cost is on you.
Where to avoid
Steer clear of illegal parking spots or you may be held responsible for a parking ticket, vehicle relocation or worse - the dreaded tow.
Tip: When ending your car2go trip, a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you would leave your personal car there.
And remember– trips can only be ended/completed within the Home Area.
We’re not above the law, be sure to take a look at your city’s parking rules here.
