Parking made easy
Parking in a car2go is simple, but it's important to know where you can and can't park. In Vancouver, we cover the fees for parking and stopovers in car2go specific spots and Permit Only Residential areas. What’s more, you’ll find plenty of reserved parkspots within the car2go home area. You can park at these parkspots free of charge. For more information see ending a trip and Stopovers.
Before leaving your car, please observe all parking signage and be sure to obey the Parking Rules and FAQ .
Always ready to go.
Your car2go is waiting
Here's an overview of the car2go home area. You can start trips anywhere inside the home area wherever there's a car available, and end trips wherever there is qualified parking available. You can always visit places, friends and family outside the home area but you always need to bring the car back home to end your trip. You will not be able to end the trip until the car reenters the home area. And make sure to know the Parking Rules before you go.
We're adding new car2gos to the fleet in Vancouver every day! The new car2gos are only compatible with the car2go app, remember traditional member cards will not allow access. To find a car2go that requires the app for access, look for the orange smartphone icon on your app or the orange “car2go App Required" sticker on the windshield.
For more information on how to use the new car2gos please visit our dedicated microsite page here.
Park at Pacific Gateway Hotel
Clear for departure?
car2go Vancouver is proud to partner with The Pacific Gateway Hotel to offer airport shuttle parking to and from Vancouver International Airport. Beginning, December 3, 2014, five designated car2go parking stalls will be available for trips to and from the airport. Note: a $7.50 charge EACH WAY will be billed to your account for trips to and from the Pacific Gateway Hotel.
For the first time ever, car2go members will have the option to bring up to four passengers along for their trip. The four-door car2go vehicles will be wrapped in the signature car2go blue-and-white outfit, and will also be featured in the car2go smartphone app, allowing members to easily identify them – whether on the road or the app.
For the duration of the pilot program, all trips in the new Mercedes B-Class vehicles can be rented at the same cost – 41 cents per minute - as car2go’s two-door vehicles. More info here.

car2go Electric Drive
Plug-in, drive off
car2go is good for the environment
car2go now has electric drive smart fortwos in the network! Thanks to the electric engine you can cruise through the streets practically noiselessly and with zero-emission. These particular vehicles do not emit any CO2, Carbon Monoxide, soot, particulate matter or other pollutants.
Some important things to note while operating an electric drive car2go:
- The electric drive car2gos have a range of about 130 kilometers on a full charge.
- If the charge falls below 20% during your rental you are required to plug the vehicle into a charging station to end the trip.
- When starting an electric drive you may not be able to tell that the car is actually on because they are so quiet. To start the car, put the key in the ignition, turn it and make sure the performance indicator lights up (where the fuel gauge is on the combustion models). If you can put the car in drive you are good to go.
If the battery performance display in your car2go electric drive sinks below 20% (shown on the round instrument on the left), you must end your trip at a charging station. Select the nearest one on the on the touch screen navigation and follow the directions on how to connect the car to the station and begin the recharging process.
Charge me up!
Electricity to go
If you’re driving a car2go electric drive for a long distance you might have to re-charge the car. Here’s how: use the navigation on the touch screen to find the nearest charging station. The charging card is just above the touch screen. You can use it to activate the charging station, then, follow the instructions on the touch screen to connect the vehicle to the charging station.
